As dieticians that value health and a healthy relationship with food, we will never give you restrictive food rules or make you count calories or measure your foods. We emphasise nutrition quality and consider how food affects energy levels, mood and digestion. We guide you in making food choices that are sustaining and satisfying, without any guilt or fear of losing control!

We have a weight neutral approach, meaning that we focus on health as the outcome and monitor health behaviour changes rather than relying on weight loss goals as the primary focus. This doesn't mean that weight loss is problematic, BUT, if weight loss is the only goal rather than health, unhealthy or even extreme methods may sometimes be used to try to get there, and it can be very tricky to stay there!

We work with our clients to move away from a diet mentality and towards a more intuitive and holistic approach, where the focus is on self-care rather than self-control. We look at the client as a whole and their lifestyle, since nutrition is deeply interconnected with other aspects of health, such as emotional well-being, physical activity, sleep, and stress management.

We offer you support each small step of the way in building healthy habits into your busy lifestyle, empowering you with the tools to make food choices that feel amazing, taste amazing, and that you actually want to continue with forever because you feel so good!

Through our work together, we may work on some of the following (client dependent):

  • Learn to make food choices that physically nourish you as well as satisfy your taste buds.

  • Find a way of eating that is flexible to suit your lifestyle, enjoyable and that feels good, both mentally & physically.

  • Shift focus from a diet mentality towards a nurturing and compassionate relationship with your body and a positive relationship with food.

  • Learn to understand your metabolism, feel more energised, achieve blood sugar stability and stave off cravings.

  • Make peace with all foods, including "forbidden" or "bad" foods through reframing of negative food rules & beliefs.

  • Find the most satisfaction from the foods you choose to eat & learn mindfulness techniques.

  • Learn to deal with emotional eating with kindness and discover other tools besides food that may be more helpful.

  • Find ways to incorporate enjoyable forms of movement into your lifestyle.

  • Create a healthy work-life balance, with enough time for relaxation, sleep and socialising too.

  • Find more headspace for the things in life that are meaningful to you and bring you joy, once food and your body are no longer a stress.

  • Learn how to nourish your body in the most optimal way, making balanced, nutritious meals without the need for calorie counting/measuring/tracking.

  • Learn to simplify planning, shopping and cooking (if you do cook) so that it seamlessly fits into your lifestyle.

  • Build confidence, self-esteem and respect for your body and learn to reframe negative body beliefs

  • Never fall of the wagon again! There is no wagon! Reduce stress around food and let go of the guilt for good. Challenges or mishaps are meant for learning and we are here to help you overcome challenges every step of the way!

We work 1:1 with our clients generally for 4-8 sessions over the period of 1-3 months as a baseline (client specific). Our work together may look something like this:
  • Initial consultation (75 mins)
  • Weekly follow ups for the first month (60 mins each)
  • Bi-weekly follow ups month 2 & 3 (60 mins each) - This is client specific and we may need less sessions
  • Meal Planning guidance to help with adding variety, keeping meals exciting and making shopping easy

Got any questions?
You aren't alone. Here are some frequently asked questions:

1. I want to become an intuitive eater, but I also really want to lose weight! Is this possible with intuitive eating?
If you are interested in intuitive eating, it is a self-care paradigm that shifts away from a weight- centred focus. We will work together to uncover your "why" and focus more on short term, day-to-day goals for self-care and for feeling your best from the food choices you make. It is not wrong to hold a desire to lose weight, but choosing to diet or restrict foods for intentional weight loss is not a sustainable approach and may actually negatively impact your health (e.g. weight cycling, eating disorders or disordered eating, poor body image, low self-esteem). If weight loss is a side effect or OUTCOME of positive health behaviours and treating your body kindly, then that is 100% okay. We just don't use weight as a measure of health. We have a weight-neutral approach to health, meaning that we look at value of health behaviours outside of weight loss. Whether you lose, gain or stay the same weight, we are here to hold space for that, but it is not what we set the goal posts by :)

2. I just want a meal plan and then can do this on my own. Can you provide me with this?
We can most definitely assist you with a meal planning guide to help with balanced and delicious meal ideas, easy planning, shopping and eating out. But, we do NOT dictate specific portions, calories or measurements, as this takes away the trust that we are trying to build in your OWN body to tell you what and how much food makes you feel your best!

3. What makes our approach different from traditional diets?
Our approach is centered around building sustainable healthy habits and nourishing a positive relationship with food, rather than focusing on weight loss as the primary outcome. We encourage you to make food choices that feel good physically and emotionally, let go of restrictive food rules and embrace a more flexible, balanced approach to eating. We address the psychological and emotional aspects of eating, to support overall well-being and look at the role of nutrition as a piece of the puzzle in the broader lens of health. We promote health behaviours that are maintainable and enjoyable, leading to lasting positive changes.

4. How can you help me with emotional eating and binge eating?
Food can definitely be a source of comfort and joy! That is definitely not wrong or anything. to feel guilty for! We work together to find ways to satisfy emotional hunger (with and without food) and address the root causes of emotional eating and binge eating. We help you recognise the specific emotions or situations that lead to compensatory eating, become aware of what you may actually need, rather than defaulting to food only, establish a regular eating schedule that includes a variety of nourishing foods to prevent feelings of deprivation and subsequent bingeing and provide you with continuous guidance and support to help you feel confident in building positive habits and making lasting changes.

5. How will optimising my nutrition improve my daily life?
Proper nutrition provides your body with the fuel it requires to perform at its best. Good nutrition also supports cognitive function, concentration, focus and even mood! A balanced and diverse diet also supports and strengthens your immune system, supports gut health and reduces risk for chronic diseases, contributing to overall well-being, longevity and quality of life :)
